We started with a simple question back in 2019

Why does understanding company performance feel so complicated? Most business owners we met had questions but no clear answers. Financial reports seemed designed for accountants, not people trying to make smart decisions about their businesses.

So we built inovaeoxium. Not as another financial platform, but as a place where comparative analysis actually makes sense.

The early days taught us everything

Our first office was a shared space in South Melbourne. Three of us, endless coffee, and conversations with business owners who were frustrated by vague benchmarks and industry jargon.

We spent months just listening. What did they actually need? Turns out, people wanted to see how their numbers stacked up against similar businesses. But more than that, they wanted context. What do these comparisons mean? Where should I focus next?

By mid-2020, we'd built our first prototype. It wasn't fancy, but it answered real questions. And businesses started using it to spot gaps they hadn't noticed before.

What guides our approach

Clarity over complexity

Financial data doesn't need to be overwhelming. We strip away the noise and focus on what actually matters for your specific situation.

Context is everything

Numbers alone don't tell you much. We provide comparisons that consider your industry, size, and location so insights are relevant.

Honest limitations

We're upfront about what our analysis can and can't do. Every tool has boundaries, and we'd rather be clear than oversell.

How we got here

2019

Started asking questions

Three colleagues from different finance backgrounds met at a Melbourne business networking event. We kept hearing the same frustration: company comparisons existed, but they weren't useful. We decided to figure out why.

Early research phase and business planning sessions

2021

Built version one

After months of testing with local businesses, we launched our first proper platform. It focused on retail and hospitality sectors because that's where we had the most feedback. Response was encouraging but showed us how much we still needed to learn.

2023

Expanded our reach

We added sectors and refined our methodology based on real user needs. Our education component grew naturally from client questions. People wanted to understand not just what the numbers showed, but why they mattered.

We're a small team based in Melbourne. Our backgrounds range from corporate finance to small business ownership, which gives us perspective on different sides of the comparison puzzle.

Strategy Lead

Roderick spent years in corporate finance before realizing he preferred working with smaller operations. He joined inovaeoxium in 2020 and now leads our methodology development. When not buried in spreadsheets, he's probably cycling around Port Phillip Bay or debating the best coffee roasters in the CBD.
